“Washington Nationals reliever Chad Cordero tore his right latissimus dorsi muscle on his final pitch of the night against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday and will be out four to six weeks, the team announced yesterday.”-Washington Times
Of course, the upper latissimus dorsi muscle, the fantabula dubble muscle….its science.
While this is sad to see it won’t have an immediate effect on the Nationals bullpen that was quite frankly producing fine without him. Don’t get me wrong, Cordero is a great closer, but Randy St. Claire’s staff has been producing just fine without him.
The biggest effect this will have on the Nationals will be the trade value of Cordero. We all love the Chief, but will he really be a top of the line closer by the time the Nats truly need one? His health troubles indicate he may not be. They Nats have talked about trading him before; this injury may seriously hurt his stock however. It will be interesting to see how Chad recovers from this, and the steps the Nats take in his rehab.

chad cordero is from the san diego area....
Its sad to see anyone hurt, but I may be the only Nats fan who is underwhelmed by Cordero.
He's too exciting for my tastes. Too many runners allowed on base.
thats what happens when u leave him in for a full inning when hes toppin out at 79 mph.
